What Is

What is sin?
That is a great question. Sometimes people think that sin is any
little thing you do that is not perfect. Wrong! We are all
human and when we do math (for example) can miscalculate - that’s not
sin. A community in which I once lived thought there were only
three sins and killing was one of them, and since they hadn’t done those
three they were pretty good people. The Bible, God’s Holy Book
tells us that our unrighteousness is as filthy rags and cannot save us. |
|
Sin has been defined
by some theologians in a very understandable way: “Sin is a
willful transgression against a known law of God.” The Bible tells
us that all have sinned, and the wages of sin is death.
Isaiah 53:6 (NLT)
tells us -
All of us have strayed away like sheep. We have left
God's paths to follow our own. Yet the LORD laid on him the guilt and
sins of us all. |
|
The Bible does not
teach a sinning religion. Titus 2:11-14 (NLT)
teaches us: ..the
grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people. And we
are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We
should live in this evil world with self-control, right conduct, and
devotion to God, while we look forward to that wonderful event when the
glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed. He
gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to
make us his very own people, totally committed to doing what is
right. Isn’t that beautiful? It is possible
through Christ! Trust Him today for transforming power to live the way
He wants you to live and live with Him forever in Heaven! |
