So you want to go to heaven when
you die? |
|
|
|
I have your attention I
think, because if there is a heaven, then I believe we all want to go
there. If there is a hell I am sure none of us want to go there.
Well the God’s revelation to man, the Holy Bible, tells us over and over
there is a heaven and a hell. The only way to heaven is repentance of
sin and trusting Christ as our Savior. |

John MacArthur writes in
his N.T.Commentary: Perhaps no doctrine is harder to accept emotionally
than the doctrine of hell. Yet it is too clear and too often mentioned
in Scripture either to deny or to ignore. Jesus spoke more of hell than
any of the prophets or apostles did—perhaps for the reason that its
horrible truth would be all but impossible to accept had not the Son of
God Himself absolutely affirmed it. It had special emphasis in Jesus’
teaching from the beginning to the end of His earthly ministry. He said
more about hell than about love. More than all other teachers in the
Bible combined, He warned men of hell, promising no escape for those who
refused His gracious, loving offer of salvation. |

In the Sermon on the Mount
alone, the Lord gives several specific and direct warnings about hell:
"Whoever shall say, ’You fool,’ shall be guilty enough to go into the
fiery hell" (Matt.
5:22), and, "It is better for you that one of the
parts of your body perish, than for your whole body to be thrown into
hell" |

Dr. Clarence Macartney told a story about a meeting in hell (an imaginative
story to teach a truth-MJS). Satan called his four leading demons
together and commanded them to think up a new lie that would trap more
souls. "I have it!" one demon said. "I'll go to earth and tell people
there is no God." "It will never work," said Satan. "People can look
around them and see that there is a God." "I'll go and tell them there
is no heaven!" suggested a second demon, but Satan rejected that idea.
"Everybody knows there is life after death and they want to go to
heaven." "Let's tell
them there is no hell!" said a third demon. "No, conscience tells
them their sins will be judged," said the devil. "We need a better lie
than that." Quietly, the fourth demon spoke. "I think I've solved your
problem," he said. "I'll go to earth and tell everybody
there is no hurry." |
