Why Go to Church? (Part 2)

The second reason I go to Church is because that is where I found God through the good news that was preached there.  The church is the primary place where the Word of God, the Holy Bible is taught and people are exhorted to deal with the God-sized problems of life and death, sin and salvation, heaven and hell.  I had that problem and so does everyone. My conscience troubled me and I was told by the Word of God as preached by the pastor or evangelist that if I would ask God to forgive me, that He would because Jesus paid my sin penalty for me on the cross.  I turned from my sin, asked Jesus to come into my life and told Him that I would serve Him all the days of my life.  He came in and saved me, forgave me and gave me a brand new spirit.  My life has been blessed beyond words, and He has kept His promises to me.

The word “church” means an “assembly” or “congregation”.   The word church is found 90 times in the N.T.  It is a “Christian community of members on earth or saints in heaven or both”.  (Strong's Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary). The church belongs to God.  Jesus said: “I will build my church.”    The Bible tells us that Christ loved the church and gave himself for the church that He might sanctify it.  Christ is the head of the Church.  In Eph 4:11,12 (NLT) “Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers.  Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.”  Do you have the church in your life?  Do you have a pastor in your life?  Do you have Christ in your life?  Will you honor Him by finding a church and worshiping with other believers?
