I recently purchased a book entitled Besides the Bible by Dan Gibson, Jordan Green and John Pattison.  The subtitle of this book is 100 Books That Have, Should, or Will Create Christian Culture.  It made me think of the book What If Jesus Had Never Been Born? By D. James Kennedy.  Everybody should read and learn from this powerful book.  One chapter that I have marked up, underlined and highlighted is the chapter In The Image Of God.   He tells how - before Christ - it was common to simply abandon children if they pleased, they would take them into the forest or mountain side and leave them to die.  About half of the children born lived beyond the age of eight in part because of infanticide.  Through the influence of Christ and His church, infanticide was brought to an end until pagan influence of our days.

Prior to Christian influence the life of a woman was cheap.  Aristotle said that a woman was somewhere between a free man and a slave.  Many girl babies disappeared immediately.  Many more little girls were abandoned than boys.  Women were considered as property and not competent nor able to be independent.  These are just a few things in this chapter.

Today our moral standards are drifting back to pagan times.  We have begun killing our unborn and our declining culture accepts and condones this.  HOW CAN THIS HAPPEN HERE?  WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO OUR CHRISTIAN INFLUENCE ?   May God forgive our sin and heal our land!

God loves Children!  Parents ought to love children!  This week, our community Vacation Bible School has reached out to children to show them that God loves them.  I love the words of Jesus when he said: "Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God.  Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it."  And He took them up in His arms, put His hands on them, and blessed them. Mark 10:13-16
