Our Need of Prayer |
|
|
|
Many years ago during the War Between the States
an officer once came complaining to Stonewall Jackson that some soldiers
were making a noise in their tents at night. General Jackson asked,
"What are they doing." And the aid said, "Well sir, they are praying
but they have been singing. The General said, "Well is that a crime?"
The aid said, "Sir, the articles of War order punishment for any unusual
noise in the camp." General Jackson's reply was this; "God forbid that
praying should be an unusual noise in this camp." Is prayer an unusual
noise in our "camp" or should I say our schools, churches and homes? |
|
It is often quoted that "there are not atheists in
foxholes" meaning that when bombs and gunfire is all around there is
recognition that we need Almighty God to come to our rescue. Do we pray
only when we are facing problems that are insurmountable? A church
should be a "house of prayer." How long since you prayed or attended a
prayer meeting? What will it take to open our eyes to the great needs
of our town, our state, our nation and our world? If we do nothing,
nothing will happen. If we do something, something will happen! When
we pray, God will answer! 2 Chron. 7:14 |
|
Oh how we need God! I hope we don't wait until we
are in great trouble individually to pray. I urge everyone to turn from
any wickedness, attend houses of worship and call on God in humility
that He may forgive our sins and heal our land. Oh that our churches
would have an unusual disturbance as a result of our praying. Oh God
revive your in the midst of the years. |
